Book Two ‘What’s In The Box’ 13 Doors Publication.

An Intro To Lucee Lovett

Hi I’m Lucee Lovett and this is my blog. As you can see from the limited blog pages and posts. I’m very new to blogging as well as writing.  I’ve only been a published author since January 2013.  I’ve always loved to write but only wrote for myself as I didn’t really think, I had any talent for it. I’m also dyslexic I didn’t have much confidence in my written expressions. To top it all I was holding down a professional job in management, so equally I didn’t have the time to write. I have to say I have a new found admiration and respect for bloggers who share their lives with their readers.  I’m finding it very difficult.  Writing fiction is so much easier.  However I found that if I’m to be a better writer I have to open myself up to scrutiny to my readers and other writers.

This is because my inspiration and plots come from the people in my life and some of my own experiences. Not literally, but the emotions expressed by my characters are real.  I have to reach deep inside myself in order to expose them and it sometime leave me feeling raw.  I want to be a considerate writer as I find that the books I love, feel as if the author is speaking to me directly and play out in my mind like a slideshow. That’s the kind of writer I want to be. So I’m going to write about my thoughts and feeling and share it with you, my readers.

Starting with how I came to write and publish my first book.  It all started with ‘50 Shades of Grey,’ all my friends were reading it and kept on telling me what a fantastic book it was.  So I bought the trilogy on my kindle app.  I started to read this book and became bored beyond belief.  I finally gave up on chapter 7 – to the annoyance of my friends. You see, we had started a book club in order to discuss the book and I was the only one who had not finished it. I was told that I had not given the book a chance as it got more interesting after the contract.  They told me to skip the earlier chapters and go to the contract and start reading form they.

I try to explain to them, that’s not how I read.  If I skipped chapters I would constantly feel as if I’d missed something in the story.  I told them the book was not for me and I was done reading it and jokingly I stated that I could write a better book than that anyway!  That’s when my girlfriends threw down the challenge and dared me to put my money where my mouth was.  I was petrified but said bravely that I would and that they should watch this space.  I had no idea how to even start writing for publication.  So I just tried to lay low for a while, hoping they would forget – but they wouldn’t let it go.

It was almost three months since I had offended harden fans of the 50 Shade Trilogy and now they were out for me, to put up or shut up. I’d even heard rumours that some of them were saying I was a know it all, but when it came to it I’d chickened out.  That’s when I made the decision to write the 13 doors series. I began to do my research. I bought a number of books in the erotic and erotica genre from Amazon as this was not a genre I was familiar with. I surfed the net looking for anything I could find on writing a novel and how to self-publish. By the time I started to write it was over a month later.

P.S. I have to thank E L James, without her books, firing up my friends <((big fans))> I would never produce and published my first book of the 13 Doors series, out of spite.
